Reclaim ControlLosing control of your desktop? Try TrayThis. TrayThis was designed to put control of your desktop back where it belongs, in your hands. With TrayThis, you now have ultimate control over how applications use, or in many cases abuse, the Windows taskbar and the taskbar notification area, also known as the system tray.Using rules you define, TrayThis can control a running application's window(s) and/or notification icon(s). Rules define the action to be taken, when to take the action, and which window or notification icon the action should be taken upon. For example, you can define a rule that will put your e-mail application (e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird) in the taskbar notification area when you minimize it.

RulesTrayThis defines two types of rules, a window rule and a notification icon rule. Each rule contains a set of identifiers that determine which window or notification icon will be affected, an action, and a criteria for when the action will be performed.
Window RulesA window rule contains a set of identifiers that determine which window is to be acted upon, an action, and a criteria for when the action will be performed. This set of identifiers contains one or more of the following: an application file name, window title, window class. When a window matches a rule's criteria, TrayThis will apply the rule's action. You can add new window rules or edit existing ones from the Window Rules tab of the configuration dialog. The Window Rules tab on the configuration dialog is divided into two panes. The top pane shows the defined window rules, and the bottom pane, the Windows pane, shows the running application windows.
Notification Icon RulesA notification icon rule contains a set of identifiers that determine which notification icon is to be acted upon, an action, and a criteria for when the action will be performed. This set of identifiers contains one or more of the following: an application file name, notification icon tooltip. When a notification icon matches a rule's criteria, TrayThis will apply the rule's action. You can add new notification icon rules or edit existing ones from the Notification Icon Rules tab of the configuration dialog. The Notification Icon Rules tab on the configuration dialog is also divided into two panes. The top pane shows the defined notification icon rules, and the bottom pane, the Notification Area pane, shows all the notification icons in the taskbar notification area (near the clock). |
